Restaurants Near the Louvre and Cafés Inside the Museum
Updated October 28, 2026
Yes, you can eat at the Louvre: the museum lists 14 cafés, restaurants and kiosks, nine inside the palace and five in the gardens. Inside the galleries, the ones that serve you mid-visit are the Café Mollien (Denon wing, level 1, a few steps from the Mona Lisa) and the Café Richelieu (Richelieu wing, level 1). Under the Pyramid, on level -2, are the museum bakery and the Café Pyramide. Mind one rule: a ticket is good for a single entry, so anything outside the galleries or outside the museum is for before or after your visit. For restaurants near the Louvre, three picks close the list. Price bands and hours are those the Louvre publishes.

Cafés inside the museum
Inside the galleries, with your ticket already scanned, there are two places to sit down: the Café Mollien, on level 1 of the Denon wing, which the museum's own official trail suggests as a break after The Raft of the Medusa and Liberty Leading the People; and the Café Richelieu, on level 1 of the Richelieu wing, next to Napoleon III's apartments. The Terrasse Colbert (Richelieu wing, level 1) is on the official list but temporarily closed. All of them close on Tuesdays, like the museum.
Under the Pyramid and in the Carrousel
In the large hall under the Pyramid (level -2) and its mezzanines (level -1) are the Boulangerie du Louvre, the Café Pyramide, MUSES and the Les Comptoirs du Louvre counters. This is the services area you pass through on your way in and out, connected to the Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall (99 rue de Rivoli). If you eat here mid-visit, bear in mind that you have already left the wings.
In the Tuileries and near the Louvre
The garden has kiosks and terraces that also open on Tuesdays: Eric Kayser next to the Arc du Carrousel, Petit Farmers by the octagonal pond, the Terrasse de Pomone beside a pond (every day 10:00 am to 6:00 pm) and Petit Plisson, with a terrace for 240 people next to the bandstand (every day 9:00 am to 9:00 pm). The Café des Marronniers is closed for works until summer 2027. Outside the grounds, the Café Marly is open until 2:00 am every day.
Can you leave to eat and come back in?
No. A Louvre ticket is for a set date and time and allows a single entry: if you leave the museum, you can't get back in on the same ticket. According to the listing of one of the guided tours we review, once you step out of the wings into the hall under the Pyramid you can no longer go back to the galleries. If you want to eat mid-visit, do it at the Café Mollien or the Café Richelieu.
